Last Saturday we were invited to go river tubing with friends. The Layou River is about half way between Portsmouth and Roseau, and is the longest river on the island.

We made it back safe and sound (and completely relaxed) with just enough time to rent a car and head for the airport for our visitors!
A company called Wacky Rollers met us on the side of the road with tubes, life vests, helmets, and paddles. At first I didn't think they were serious, or at least not mandatory, but I was wrong.
See what I mean? The life vest was superfluous, seeing as the deepest part of the river must have been four feet. Let's not even talk about the helmet.
Halfway down the river, we stopped to get out and swim (in the 4 foot deep part). Our river guide only managed to get half of us in the picture somehow. After a refreshing break from a stinky life jacket (you know they don't sanitize like they would at Schlitterbahn) and a ridiculous helmet, it was back in the tubes.
My waterproof camera case had some condensation on the inside so a lot of the pictures are fuzzy.
