Family Barbeque

Sunday afternoon Justin's mom, Kathy, organized a huge family get together at Aunt Cheryl's house in Tomball. It was the perfect opportunity to 1. see family and friends and 2. eat copious amounts of delicious Texas home cooking. Uncle Allen and the guys fired up the grill and made grasshoppers (bacon wrapped cheese filled jalapenos), ribs, sausage, and chicken. Aunt Cheryl and the ladies packed the kitchen with chips and dips, fruits & veggies, and every kind of side imaginable. It was a smorgasbord that kept my eyes wide (in disbelief that I had lived for 8 months without these delicious items, and this is on top of the shock that was still wearing off from visiting the produce section of the grocery store earlier that day!) and stomach full (bursting, actually).

I remember feeling very compelled to join the couch nappers, but there was too many stories to retell and food to consume. Especially since Travis secretly invited a bunch of our college buddies who have graduated and relocated to the Houston area. It was such a wonderful surprise to see everyone.

The eating and drinking continued and, it wouldn't be a real BBQ without pulling out the dominoes for a game of 42.

I'm embarassed at the terrible job I did taking photos to document our first day back in Texas. Remind me next time (oh, there will be a next time! and the weather will be cool enough to light a fire in the awesome pit Uncle Allan made!) to stop talking so much and take more pictures! Aunt Cheryl will be pleased to know, though, that while we were all in the kitchen cleaning up I took a video of the Aunts singing to the radio. The part she'll be pleased about is that I can't find it anywhere on my computer. But don't worry, I'll keep my eyes peeled until our return where I can take another.

Thanks to everyone who came! We were so happy to see everyone!
