Weekend Camping Trip

We rented a cabin for the weekend for our first vacation as a family of four. The last time we went camping, Jonah was one and we had a blast so we were excited to go again.
We played bean bag, soccer, and just hung out. The campsite had a swimming pool and we went swimming every day even though the water was pretty cold. The boys didn't mind! We also rented a canoe one afternoon and paddled up and down Miller's Creek. Neither of us brought our phones to take pictures though :( Right as the rental guy pushed us off the bank he warned us to watch out for alligators. Jonah was pretty disappointed we didn't see one but he still had fun.

The big hit for Jonah was fishing. He and Justin found a fishing pole and worms at the camp store.
After a quick lesson, he was ready to go!

Griffin wasn't impressed with fishing. He spent a lot of time holding my hands and walked around the pond.
The pond was stocked with perch and catfish, and both were pretty skilled at eating worms of hooks. Jonah was successful in catching one all by himself!
He also found lots of bugs around the campsite, including a beetle he caught and put in his bug catcher.
Griffin cooled down with some ice one afternoon and was so uncertain about it. He'd hold it and taste it and then scream (I'm guessing from the cold) but then he'd take another taste!

Griffin was as good a camper as Jonah was at this age!
They both had a blast! We cooked dinner every night over the fire and roasted a whole bag of marshmallows.
The weather was perfect the whole time, with only a little rain one evening and there weren't other campers near us so we had a lot of space.
Jonah is already asking to go again!  Anyone want to go camping?

the wagon

We've been having fun with the wagon.
Griffin held his own pushing Jonah around.
And here's a little flashback to October 2011 :)

Lately

Jonah's friend Emily turned 3 the week after Jonah and had a birthday party at Michael's where we painted picture frames and stuffed a Pete the Cat pillow (based on the cutest book Pete the Cat and his 4 Groovy Buttons).
Emily and her brother Alexander (and their parents of course) have become good friends of ours here.
We 'celebrated' St Patrick's day by wearing our cute shirts Aunt Sara sent.
And after looking at this sweetness through the lense of the camera (which, let's be honest hasn't been happening lately - explaining the pathetic lack of posts) I decided something had to be done with 'el pelo.'

ta-daa!

In other news... I'm working on my first ever garden. I started from seed at the beginning of march and then planted them in my raised bed two weeks ago. We'll see how it goes - I'm excited at the prospect of fresh tomatoes, peppers, and zuchinni. I'll keep you posted.

and that's what I've captured on camera lately...
