Frankenmuth, MI

On Sunday, Justin took the day off and we explored the small town of Frankenmuth, Michigan's little Bavaria. It is a cute little tourist town and we had a wonderful time.

We started with a wine tasting at St. Julian's winery, Michigan's biggest wine maker. While a lot of the wines were very sweet, we tried our best (i.e. lots of samples) to find our favorite.

Then we ventured down Main Strasse where all the buildings were in traditional Alpine style.

Frankenmuth is right on the Cass river, and there is even a cute covered bridge we drove through!

After taking silly pictures, we treated ourselves to a beer tasting (what better activity to follow a wine tasting?) at the Bavarian Inn.

One was HofBrau, from Munich, and the dark was a specially brewed beer for the Restaurant, and one was Blue Moon and I can't remember the other. They were all very good complements to our German appetizer of Pretzels and dip.

We toured the Frankenmuth Museum and played a game of checkers.
Then we had dinner at Zehnder's which is famous for their Chicken Dinners.

After a walk along the river we headed back to Saginaw.

Hope everyone is doing well! Justin's semester ends next Friday (yikes) and we're still waiting to hear where we go from here. We'll update as soon as we know!
