Leslie's last day

It was Leslie's last day in Dominica and what better to do to celebrate than spend the day with the girls soaking up the sun. Not that that is hard to do here seeing as the daily high is still in the high 20s (Celsius, my friends, you didn't learn those conversions in high school for nothing after all). We started at the pier, as always. Imagine the scene... four cute housewives in a row trying to catch a sea breeze over the water. Unfortunately, there wasn't much of a breeze and we were actually pretty sweaty. I've come to realize that jumping in the water here isn't as refreshing as it is at Barton Spring's pool in Austin where the water stays freezing cold year round. Instead you get salty and sandy. Lucky for us, the school has just finished remodeling their pool (thanks to the fabulous designs of our lovely Rachel, who is the campus architect). Well, the pool wasn't technically open for business, per se, but seeing as construction has lasted longer than Leslie's 5 semester stint on the island, we (I) decided to make a run for it and jumped in the pool before we could talk ourselves out of it. (side note: Rachel was supposed to have made "Pool is Closed" signs, but conveniently forgot)

The end result? Four happy housewives. Leslie, Christina, Rachel, and I had so much fun goofing around in the pool. But wait, it gets better.
We walked (the mile) to Tina's grocery store which has been pretty depressingly devoid of any new and exciting items lately, and to our surprise we were delighted to find she had pints of Ben & Jerry's. WOW! This is big news, y'all. I won't even tell you how much it cost, but it was worth every penny.
This is not goodbye forever (no tears, please) as we have big plans to meet up next summer when we are all in the states again. It may not be as fancy as a trip to Antigua, but we promise to take at least as many pictures!
